[edit] Suggestions for new projects

  1. Read Wikiproject Best practices for tips on leading a WikiProject.
  2. Create the main project page at Wikipedia:WikiProject projectname. (See Starting a new page)
  3. Create an outline on your project page:
  4. Identify pages within the scope of your project:
    • A good way to do this is to copy the listings of Special:Whatlinkshere for the most important articles related to your project.
    • You will probably want to save a copy of the list on a project status subpage.
  5. Create a project to-do list to focus and coordinate your collaborative efforts.
  6. If possible, link to a sample article to give other Wikipedians a feel for the project's goals.
  7. Advertise!
  8. Write an article for the scope and history of the word "media". Links to the media disambiguation page are being directed to articles that oversimplify the context.

The WikiProject Council logo WikiProject Council would like to inform all Wikipedians that it may be advantageous to:
  • Join WikiProjects of your field of knowledge or interest. This will provide you with a forum in which to exchange opinions, identify common goals with respect to articles under that topic, and coordinate opportunities to share your knowledge.
You may also join Maintenance WikiProjects, where the focus is on the organization and functioning of Wikipedia in general.
  • Beware of overloading yourself with WikiProject memberships, however. Keep involved in a handful of WikiProjects to which you can actively and assiduously contribute, and always be willing to help any WikiProject, when you see an opportunity, regardless of membership.
