Vatra Dornei is a city and a ski resort in the north of Romania, in Suceava County. It includes the city proper and three villages: Argestru, Roşu and Todireni.
Until the 1950s it had a mixed population of Romanians, Ukrainians, Jews and Germans. The large synagogue and a picturesque Jewish cemetery bear witness to the Jewish presence in the area.Notable residents Candrea Andrei.
