The Tees-Wear derby is a football local derby contested between Middlesbrough and Sunderland, in the North East of England. The Tees-Wear derby is not as intense or as famous as the Tyne-Wear derby however it remains somewhat important to fans of the two teams. Though normally this game is very much secondary to the Tyne-Wear derby in seasons where Middlesbrough in Sunderland find themselves in a league together, separate from Newcastle Utd, and the rivalry is beginning to pick up momentum, over the past two seasons there have been clashes between both sets off fans, it can often act as a substitute most important derby. This often happened in the late 1990s when the two teams spent a lot of their time at the top of Division 1.
In the 2007-08 Premier league season, the results were:
- Middlesbrough 2-2 Sunderland
- Sunderland 3-2 Middlesbrough
