Sameer Dattani or Sammir Dattani (Kannada: ಸಮೀರ್ ದತಾನೀ) also known as Dhyan(Kannada: ಧ್ಯಾನ್)(in Kannada film industry)[1] is an Indian film actor who acted in Bollywood and Kannada films.

Sameer belongs to a Gujarati business family and was born and brought up in Mumbai. He did his schooling from Greenlawns and was a graduate from H.R. college. Before becoming an actor, Sameer was a national level roller skater and has won many awards at the all India level.

At age of 17, Sameer has been facing the camera and has done a lot of TV commercials and music videos. 'Valentine's Day' was one of his very popular music videos which made him an instant teen heart-throb. Sameer Dattani started his Hindi film career with the biggest banner of Bollywood, Rajshri Films. However, the film 'Uuf Kya Jaadoo Mohabbat Hai' did not do well at the box-office but the audiences and critics did appreciated his work. Although his roles in Madhur Bhandarkar's 'Corporate' and Vikram Bhatt's 'Life Mein Kabhie Kabhie' were much appreciated. His movies in the Kannada film industry have been very big hits and also dubbed and released in Telegu where they been a success. In fact, his film career started with a Kannada film, 'Nanna Preethiya Hudugi' which was a silver jubliee hit at the box office and also fetched him the best debut award in the South. The very famous song 'car car' from the film is still remembered by the audiences. Sameer's recent film 'Amruthadhare' was the biggest hit of that year, running successfully for 25 weeks at various cinemas all over Karnataka. It also had Mr. Amitabh Bachchan making a special appearance in the film, his only appearance in any South film so far. Now besides consolidation his career in Bollywood, he also continues doing films in the south where his screen name is 'Dhyan'

His recent release in Hindi 'Mukhbir' directed by Mani Shankar and also starring senior actors like Om Puri, Suniel Shetty and Jackie Shroff got him great appreciation for his performance as the central character that of a under cover police informer. The film fared well at the box office apart from winning accolades at various festivals.

Sameer is also working on his first big banner Tamil film being produced by Gemini films along with Shriya Saran as his co-star. He is rumoured to be making a foray in other South Indian languages too.

Sameer's talent has been noticed by renowned film director Shyam Benegal who has cast him in his next film 'Well done Abba' along with Minisha Lamba and Boman Irani. Shooting for the same is completed and the film is expected to release end 2009.

Besides being an actor, Sameer comes from an industralist famiy who are into the textile business and he is also the proud owner of a Chinese restaurant in Kala Ghoda, Mumbai.
