Paweł Tadeusz Howard Abbott (born 5 May 1982 in York) is a professional footballer who plays as a striker for Football League One side Oldham Athletic.
[edit] Career
Born to a Polish mother and an English father as the younger of two children, Abbott began his footballing career as a youth player at ŁKS Łódź in Poland, before moving to Preston North End at the age of 19.
He did not have the best time at Preston making only 20 appearances in three years and having two loan spells at Bury.
In early 2004, Abbott was signed on loan by Huddersfield Town as a makeshift replacement for Jon Stead who had just been sold to Premiership side Blackburn Rovers. He scored on his debut after coming off the bench against Bristol Rovers. He was then bought for a fee of around £125,000.
In July 2006, Abbott rejected a move to Milton Keynes Dons as part of a deal or no deal with their defender Dean Lewington. He said that he wanted to fight for a first-team place against Gary Taylor-Fletcher, Andy Booth, John McAliskey and new signing Luke Beckett.
On January 22, 2007, he signed for Swansea on a two and a half year deal for a transfer fee of £150,000.[1] He spent only six months at Swansea, before moving to League Two side Darlington for £100,000.[2]
On June 26, 2009 Abbott opted to sign for League 1 outfit Oldham Athletic on a 2-year deal. It was rumoured he turned down several offers to join the former Premier League founders.[3]
