Nivala is a town and municipality of Finland.

It is located in the province of Oulu and is part of the Northern Ostrobothnia region. The town has a population of 10,999 (31 March 2009)[2] and covers an area of 536.92 square kilometres (207.31 sq mi) of which 9.15 km2 (3.53 sq mi) is water.[1] The population density is 20.84 inhabitants per square kilometre (54.0 /sq mi).

Kyösti Kallio, the fourth President of Finland (1937–1940), was a resident of Nivala.

The municipality is unilingually Finnish.
