Aside from representing students, the union includes a bar and gym facilities. Leeds Trinity Student Union is one of the smallest students' unions in the UK.

Leeds Trinity and All Saints Union of Students (LTU) support these values, and aim to enhance the student experience by:

  • Advancing the Academic interests of the students.
  • Facilitating the needs of each individual student, by creating an inclusive, accessible environment.
  • Providing a comprehensive information and advisory service to all students on matters relating to their general welfare.
  • Acting as a medium of communication between the students, Leeds Trinity and All Saints, and other bodies.
  • Providing recreational facilities, and other leisure time activities and entertainment, in the interests of social welfare of the students. [1]

The student experience at Leeds Trinity and All Saints is enriched by the relationship the College has with schools, employers, and the wider community. LTU strives to have equally strong relationships with such bodies, as well as working closely with the College in furthering the current relationship.

LTU aim to build a multi-faith and multi-cultural social community in which any student can receive the support and advice needed to benefit from all non-academic aspects of the higher education environment, whilst also fulfilling their academic potential.

[edit] Facilities

The Union houses a student union bar called 'HQ' which supplies alcohol and a selection of hot and cold food. HQ hosts a variety of different nights including pub quizzes, gigs, stand up comedians and football and rugby matches. It has a capacity of 650.

[edit] Sabbatical Officers

  • John Mulherin - President
  • Daniel Capewell - Vice President

The president is responsible for sitting on the Academic Board and on the Board of Governors, which are the two most insignificant committees within the institution. It is in these committees that the big decisions are made, and anything that will affect students will either be supported or challenged depending on the repercussions of its outcome.

[edit] Media

Leeds Trinity has a newspaper which has been running for two years, started by students and ran by students. Which Illustrates news, entertainment and sport. Along with its’ own magazine.

The union also supplies a television show called ‘On Tasc TV’. This site allows students and the general public to view issues about students, filmed by students and produced by students and explores topical issues that arise during student life (e.g. debt).

LTU has a wide range of media opportunities which offer businesses a chance to target and engage with a concentrated market from the minute a student arrives at Leeds Trinity. LTU views it’s marketing opportunities as a way of building loyal customers with the student members which as a result could be very lucrative for a company wanting to expand its target market.[2] Students are supplied with various leaflets and newspapers to help make decisions about housing in their second year for example every student is supplied with a newspaper from Unipol, to help them decide where to live and how much they should be paying etc. [3]

[edit] RAG (Raise & Give)

LTU promotes fund raising for worthwhile causes, and this comes under the remit of the RAG Team. The aim is to raise as much money for charity as possible and generate a good social atmosphere for the students. Throughout the year LTU hold a wide range of events and activities in order to support a number of different local and national charities. The biggest and most intensely fueled week is the annual RAG week. During RAG week the team hosts many different events, including fancy dress pub crawls, hot waxing, battles of the bands and a slave Auction. . [4]

[edit] Societies

LTU has grown immensely in the development of its societies in recent years as they currently have 3 active societies who regularly socialise, network, meet up and pursue activities and interests which the students love and are passionate about. Currently offering the following societies for students to join and be members of;

Cheerleaders, Islamic Society, Be Society (Business Enterprise Society).

LTU is willing to support any group of students or individuals who would like to start their own society.
