Law of Bhutan

Jump to: navigation, search

The law of Bhutan is determined primarily by the Royal High Court of Bhutan, which is appointed by the monarch. Under this law, a strict censorship is enforced which is comparable to those of Bhutan's South Asian neighbours. The judicial system's civil and criminal codes are based on the Tsa Yig, a code established by the Shabdrung in the seventeenth century. The law of Bhutan is enforced by the national police, which was instituted in 1965.
