Kärsämäki is a municipality of Finland.
It is located in the province of Oulu and is part of the Northern Ostrobothnia region. The municipality has a population of 2,968 (31 March 2009)[2] and covers an area of 700.93 square kilometres (270.63 sq mi) of which 6.05 km2 (2.34 sq mi) is water.[1] The population density is 4.27 inhabitants per square kilometre (11.1 /sq mi).
The name Kärsämäki means literally "snout hill".
The municipality is unilingually Finnish.
