James Augustine Farrell, Jr. was born in 1901 and was the son of James A. Farrell, who was the president of U.S. Steel Corporation from 1911-1932. From his graduation from Yale University in 1924, he was a ship operator and owner. He eventually became the founder of Farrell Lines, which was a shipping company. He died in 1978.
