Hosny Abd Rabo Abd El Motaleb Ibrahim (Arabic: حسني عبدربه عبد المطلب ابراهيم) (born 1 November 1984) is an Egyptian footballer. He plays the defensive midfielder position for Egypt's club El-Ismaily as well as the Egypt national football team.

[edit] Ismaily
Hosny started his professional football career at Ismaily in Egypt, and was the youngest player in the Egyptian first division when Ismaily won the League Championship in the season 2001/2002. In 2003 Hosni joined the Egyptian U-20's in the FIFA World Youth Championship 2003 in the Arab Emirates. In this tournament he caught the eyes of big clubs in Europe such as Juventus,Trabzonspor,Arsenal, and also sides such as Nantes, and Strasbourg, but his club Al-Ismaily refused to release him from his contract.
At the end of 2003, he played in the Arabian Club Championship final but lost, achieving the same result in the African Champions League. In 2004 Hosni was selected for the first time in his career to play for the Egyptian national team in the African Cup of Nations in Tunisia and was one of the youngest players in the tournament.
[edit] RC Strasbourg
In summer 2005, Hosny signed a five year contract with Racing Club Strasbourg. He was called up for the Egypt squad for the 2006 African Cup of Nations but was injured just one week before the tournament started and could not play. The Egyptian team eventually went on to win the tournament against the Ivory Coast.

In the 2005–06 season, Strasbourg were relegated to Ligue 2. Hosny then left the team on loan, returning to Al-Ismaily for a season. The move was made effective after the loan's end.
Due to his impressive performances with the Egyptian national team in the ACN 2008 tournament, Hosni has once again caught the eye of a number of European clubs, notably Newcastle United FC, Bolton Wanderers FC and Paris Saint Germain.

On 29/7/2008 ,in a shocking move It was announced that Hosny had joined UAE Al-Ahli (Dubai) on loan for 2 years,despite offers from big European clubs in England and Spain. Reports linked him with Atlético Madrid ,Newcastle United and other famous European clubs Afterward Ismaily announced that they received an official offer from C.A. Osasuna and all of this was after Hosny's mouth-dropping performance in Africa Cup of Nations Ghana 2008 for which he won Best Player, but in spite of all that he joined UAE Al-Ahli (Dubai) in a shocking move,to say the least,for his fans After the move officials in Egypt's Al-Ahly announced that they will sue Hosny for signing a contract earlier... But after ward they announced that they will pursuit Racing Club Strasbourg. He has most recently been linked with a move to Blackburn Rovers, who are thought to be his preferred option as he supported them as a child.

Hosny made his debut with Egypt national team against Sudan in 06-06-2004.
Hosny was called for National team in ACN Egypt 2006, But was injured one weak before beginning of tournament so was excluded out of national squad.
Hosny won with National Team The 11th Pan Aarbic Games in Egypt 2007.
Hosny was the key player for Egypt to win ACN 2008,By Scoring 4 Goals, making 2assists, excelled in defense and in midfield and in attack, he was named player of the tournament.

Hosny scored 2 goals in the first match against Cameron,one from penalty Although the referee repeated it he also scored from it, And in each time the keeper went in the other direction of the ball. The second goal is from 36 m shot from the Goal line. In the second match against Sudan Hosny entered the 18-area passed the keeper but was tackled so gained a Penalty kick where he scored, although the referee repeated it, Also Hosny scored a goal. Hosny also assisted the third goal for Abo Trieka.
In a fourth match against Angola Hosny scored from a Penalty.
InSemi Final Fifth match Hosny excelled in defending against Didier drogba shot.
In Sixth match the final against Cameron Hosny excelled in defending and in attacking and almost very near to score by very good header that hit the side post.
His performance with National team encouraged French football magazine L'Equipe to publish a report about him saying that he led his team Defensively and Offensively and was like a Maestro in Midfield with his accurate passes and hard shots and great effort.
There was a great competition between the Egyptians, Amr Zaki of Al-Zamalek and Mohamed Abo Trieka of Al-Ahly and Essam El Hadary of Al-Ahly and the Ghanaian Soli Montari of Portsmouth with the Egyptian Hosny Abd Rabou of El-Ismaily but Cameronian Great former player Roger Milla who is best African player in last 50years and Nigerian Coach Berty Fogets and Ben Kofe and Zambian Star Kalocha Boalya and Sudanian Shata who is the Chief of Technical committee in Caf with all Technical Board preferred him.
Kalocha Boalya stated that Hosny contributions in scoring goals, making assists and holding the team together as he could defend and attack and exist inside penalty area so can hit the post with a very good header in the final although he is a defending midfielder nominated him to win the award.
Shata stated that Hosny fullfiled all the conditions present in the complete player as he is goal scorer and shooter and Play maker and have good manner and leading character.
The over all Performance of Hosny make him the first nominate for winning the golden ball of the tournament as he scored 4 Goals, made 2 assists, winning Man of the Match twice, excelled in defending and attacking and controlling the rhythm of the play, as a leader for his team qualified him to pick up The Player of the Tournament award ahead of Ivorian Didier Drogba of Chelsea FC and Ghanaian Michael Essien of Chelsea FC and Cameronian Samuel Eto of Barcelona FC and Ivorian Kieta and Malian Diara of Real Madrid.
