Haapajärvi is a town and municipality of Finland.

It is located in the province of Oulu and is part of the Northern Ostrobothnia region. The town has a population of 7,782 (31 March 2009)[2] and covers an area of 789.18 square kilometres (304.70 sq mi) of which 23.67 km2 (9.14 sq mi) is water.[1] The population density is 10.17 inhabitants per square kilometre (26.3 /sq mi).

The municipality is unilingually Finnish.
