Bryant Homes Limited, a subsidiary company of Taylor Wimpey plc, is a large housebuilding contractor. Since the sale of Taylor Woodrow Construction and the Taylor Woodrow brand to Vinci plc, all of Taylor Woodrow's housebuilding operations were moved to Bryant Homes. Their head offices are in Solihull, West Midlands.
[edit] History
The company was founded by Chris Bryant in 1885 and initially traded in Birmingham as C. Bryant & Son.[1] The founder's son, Eb, took over the business in 1928.[1] After World War II, the company built new council housing to replace the slums in Birmingham as well as undertaking civil engineering work there.[1] The Company was first listed on the London Stock Exchange in 1962.[1] The company then gradually focused on new housing works.[1]
In January 2001, the company was acquired by Taylor Woodrow.[2] Taylor Woodrow, in 2007, merged with George Wimpey to form Taylor Wimpey.[3] In January 2009, the Taylor Woodrow brand, along with Taylor Woodrow Construction was sold to Vinci.[4] As a result, all UK housebuilding operations, which were part of Taylor Woodrow, were moved to Bryant Homes.
